Trauma & PTSD

Trauma-informed psychiatric care centered on safety and trust.

Understanding the condition

Finding safety after a traumatic experience

People can have many reactions after a traumatic event. Some reactions ease with time; others persist and interfere with daily life. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may be diagnosed when a specific pattern of symptoms continues after trauma.

Trauma responses can affect sleep, relationships, work, physical health, and a person’s sense of safety. Not everyone who experiences trauma develops PTSD, and support should respect each person’s pace and story.
